The work of the Dendenbula Initiative is structured around several strategic focus areas designed to address key development gaps in the community.
Digital Empowerment for Students
Despite having over 250,000 primary and secondary school students, fewer than 10% of students in Ifo have access to the internet or digital devices. This program provides students with internet access, airtime, and exposure to digital tools to support research, learning, and global educational opportunities.
By connecting students online, the initiative aims to expand their knowledge and open doors to opportunities beyond their immediate environment.
Women Empowerment through Skills Training and Micro-Loans
Women empowerment programs follow a two-step model:
- Trade skills training
- Financial support through micro-loans or grants
Training sessions provide women with practical skills in areas such as soap production, hairdressing, makeup artistry, nail care, disinfectant production, recycling, and packaging. Top-performing participants receive financial support to launch their own small businesses.
The long-term target is to train and empower 10,000 women annually, enabling them to support their families and contribute to local economic growth.
Connecting 350,000 Youths to the Digital World
The initiative aims to close the digital gap by providing laptops, tablets, and smartphones to young people in Ifo. With these tools, youths can develop digital literacy, learn new skills online, support entrepreneurial ventures, and connect with global opportunities.
In today’s world, digital access is not a luxury — it is an essential tool for empowerment.
Virtual Learning Resources for Students
Each year, thousands of students in Ifo prepare for major examinations such as WAEC and JAMB. The Virtual Learning Resource Program provides online learning platforms, tutor-led modules, STEM education tools, coding training, and exam preparation resources.
This platform also allows global sponsors to support students directly by funding educational subscriptions, ensuring that assistance reaches students efficiently and transparently.
